A builder-grade 2,000-square-foot condo in Hyde Park was transformed into a custom, light-filled home, finally giving the space a pulse through thoughtful architecture and richly layered materials. The renovation replaced standard finishes with bespoke design details that elevate the home’s everyday experience.
The kitchen and all 2.5 baths were fully renovated, while strategic structural changes allowed the dining room to expand into the garage, creating space for a custom built-in bar designed for both function and gathering. Custom white oak cabinetry anchors both the kitchen island and bar, adding warmth and continuity to the main living space, while Luce De Luna stone and Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances bring a level of performance and polish that feels truly custom. Taller sliding and entry doors were introduced to better unify the great room and strengthen the connection between spaces. The front porch was screened in, creating an inviting outdoor room that extends the home’s usability without sacrificing its original footprint.
Throughout the home, materials were chosen to create depth, warmth, and character. Zellige and unglazed terracotta tiles pair with Cristallo Del Mar in the primary bath, while that same stone was used to create a sculptural custom vanity in the powder room. The secondary bath layers brick tile, soapstone, and marble floors for a grounded, tactile feel.
The result is a cohesive, soulful home that now feels alive with intention and detail, proving that even the most builder-grade spaces can be elevated through thoughtful design.
